A worker paints the Golden Gate Bridge with a fresh coat of its iconic orange color.

Originally painted with red lead primer and a lead-based topcoat, the color for which the Bridge is now known was selected by consulting architect Irving Morrow because it complements the natural surroundings and enhances visibility in fog.
