Near the end of two eras

Stan Musial on deck during a game against the Mets at the Polo Grounds in New York City in July 1962

Musial hit an impressive .330 that year but chose to retire at the end of the ’63 campaign after 22 Hall of Fame seasons with the Cardinals.

Interestingly the Polo Grounds, a dilapidated 83-year-old legend in its own right, was demolished mere months after Stan The Man called it a career.
