First designated in 1926, U.S. Route 666 was a nearly 200-mile stretch that ran from Monticello, Utah, through Colorado, and into Gallup, New Mexico, covering three of the “Four Corners” of the American southwest. It was re-designated U.S. Route 491 in 2003.
