Metallica played their first gig at Radio City in Anaheim, California 40 years ago today.

The setlist, which included “Hit the Lights” and “Jump in the Fire,” was performed by founding members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, alongside lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, who formed Megadeth in 1984, and bassist Ron McGovney, who left the band nine months later.
