From different corners of the world

I was reminded recently of a couple of foreign visitors I met a few years ago: one from the Netherlands, the other from South Africa. One here on business, the other a college student at Mississippi State with whom I spoke at length about the atrocities his fellow Afrikaners (Dutch South Africans) have faced for years.

Long story short, the conversations were agreeable and edifying as always. I’ve yet to encounter an expat who didn’t go the extra mile to explain exactly what it is about our nation that they appreciate.

So in lieu of how these experiences always feel, it seems fitting at the moment to share a piece of Americana — a little town in New Hampshire situated along a tributary of the Connecticut River that was practically founded for this time of year.

Same picture was initially shared on this blog last November

Enjoy the season while it lasts.
