“Bull”

William Halsey, Jr. commanded the Third Fleet to victory during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines, the largest naval battle of the Second World War and, possibly, the largest naval battle in history.

He was the last of the four men — preceded by King, Leahy, and Nimitz — to have earned the five-star Fleet Admiral rank, which he achieved three months after World War II ended.
