Today marks the annual celebration of my birth. So now that I’m well into old fart territory, here are a few thoughts on what I’ve learned so far —
- One of the more impactful truths of adulthood is realizing that much of what you once wanted doesn’t seem as great when you finally get it.
- Now more than ever, I look forward to spending time with people who make me forget about my phone.
- It’s amazing how I never get tired of ‘80s music.
- There’s a 50% chance your marriage will fail, but your dog(s) will love you forever.
- I’m still frequently torn between “I’m not doing enough” and “I barely have the energy to do anything.”
- I’m beginning to question if social media is adequate enough to provide for my spiritual and emotional fulfillment.
- Because we can’t know for sure when “mid-life” is, I’ve decided simply to continue my ongoing crisis. It’s just easier that way.
So I look at it like this…
Metallica released Kill ‘Em All 38 years ago today.
AC/DC released Back in Black 41 years ago today.
My mom released/unleashed Me 45 years ago today.
I don’t really feel my age, whatever that means. In fact I’ve yet to reach my peak – better days are still ahead.
