August 1 marks the 40-year anniversary of MTV’s launch.

A pathetic shell of its former self today, we were nonetheless fortunate to get a solid 15 years of music and entertainment from the network… before the dark times.

Though incomprehensible for kids to understand now, the importance of MTV during its heyday cannot be overstated.
