Kingston Falls and Hill Valley are the same place: Courthouse Square, a backlot composed of several facades located at Universal Studios in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County.

The area was known as Mockingbird Square prior to the ‘80s, owing to its role in the film To Kill a Mockingbird.
