Certain dates define our nation.
July 4, 1776, obviously.
April 12, 1861, when a South Carolina militia shelled Fort Sumpter for 34 hours, commencing a conflict that resulted in the loss of over 600,000 lives.
December 7, 1941, when 353 Imperial Japanese aircraft aligned with the Axis powers attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii that resulted in over 3,600 casualties and thrust the United States into the Second World War.
