I’m not going to get much into the Russia investigation. Despite your opinion of it, accepting campaign contributions from foreign countries is illegal. Your thought that we should reopen the country because only a percentage of people die from COVID-19 may seem logical but it quickly falls apart when you do the math. The US population in 2019 was about 328,239,523 according to The Census Bureau.^1
Assuming a 1 percent fatality rate, COVID-19 would kill at least 3,282,395 people. The current US death toll is 229,238^2 for context, according to the COVID Tracking project. The death toll would be higher if the medical infrastructure is pushed beyond it’s capacity. For the world death toll, the CIA World Factbook estimates the world population at 7,684,292,383^3, which with a 1 percent fatality rate, it would kill at least people 76,842,923 people. So to be clear, you’re ok with letting 76 million people die?
